Nikon capture NX, has just been updated to version 1.1 and takes onboard many niggles of users of the software over the last year that NX has been available to the asses. This is a Nikons bespoke photoediting package designed specifically for working with images taken with the Nikon range of digital SLR cameras. It's main advantage as an addition to a package such as Photoshop is that it can vary the white balance and levels information of a Nikon 'NEF' file without disruption of the original data. All effects and adjustments applied to an image are reversable and adjustable at any time ad you don't have to worry about the order the're applied. But the big advantage and one that every photographer should focus on is image quality. No other package is able to extract as deliver as much quality from a Nikon RAW file than capture, it may not be the fastest but it certainly delivers.
My workflow currently consist of Adobe Lightroom (Beta 4) -> Nimon Capture NX 1.1 -> Adobe Photoshop -> Qimage. Photoshop being used to carry out minor image manipulations and Qimage for printing out at optimum quality.
