I have two hoodman products, the first is the hoodcap, this is very similar to the Nikon cap that is supplied with the D1h and D1x but with one big improvement 'The viewing area is clear'. Nikon made a good move when they replaced the black cover of the original D1 with a transparent cap when they introduced the D1h and D1x, however the Nikon cap just isn't transparent enough and you regularly have to take the cap over to see your image more clearly, particularly in difficult lighting. |

On goes the Hoodcap and suddenly the LCD screen is clear sharp and yet still protected.The hoodcap has a cristal clear centre section that allows you to clearly see the LCD screen. This is the cap I now keep as standard on my D1h. |

The other Hoodmap product I use is the hood version of the hoodcap. This is basically the hoodcap with a perminantly attached rubber collapsable hood. This hood is ideal for outside in bright sunshine and keeps the LCD screen effectively in shadow so you can still clearly see it. The hood work well with minimal interference and maximum results. |

Hoodman products are high quality professional items, the hoodcap is aswell if not better made than it's Nikon counterpart and works far better. This is the cap Nikon should have made. If you have any of the Nikon D1 range then do yourself a favour and get a Hoodman cap. |
