Described by some as a cutdown F5 this is a high end amateur enthusiasts body. Fast autofocus using the same system as in the F5, good ergonomics and a performance motor drive. But for me the big missing item is the colour matrix metering which means that more care is needed with exposure readings and if used to the F5 this can catch you out. Make no mistake this is a great camera body and if I hadn’t got a F5 I would have thought of it being a flagship model. A little lighter than the F5 it can be easier to carry on those long days but I prefer the extra weight of the F5 when using super telephoto lenses as the result is better balanced.
