Nikon D2x

With the introduction of the x version of the D2 model Nikon really introduced some inovitive features and moved a step further towards the ultimate digital body.
The sensor was the largest supprise CMOS not LBCAST as the D2h, has Nikon admitted the deficencies of the D2h's sensor I don't believe so and Nikon themselves say they have more in the future with the LBCAST sensor. The D2x sensor however was sourced from Sony and allowed Nikon to address the desire of photographers for a high resolution sensor to rival those being offered by the competition. At 12.4Mpixel, 12.2 effective, the D2x allows high quality images to be easily produced at A3 and greater sizes. Images initially look a little soft but only because of the high resolution, at these pixels were starting to reach the limited resolution of some lenses. It's amasing how much detail is held in an image and rather then seeing pixels you simply run out of detail. This creates highly pleasing and usable images.
Other key features of the D2x were it's high speed cropping mode where only a central portion of the image, quivalent to x2 of 35mm compare to the normal x1.5, is used and allows higher frame rates but still 6Mpixel images.
