Doesn’t go quite as wide as the AFS version but is less than half the price. There is some darkening on the image towards the edge of the view, particularly with a polarising filter attached but otherwise this is a sharp and well made lens. Benifitting from Ed lens elements the results from this lens are very pleasing and make it hard to justify the additional funds for the AFS version and at this focal length were generally not looking for fast lenses with a low aperture. This lens is particularly well suited to use with a D1h(x) where it becomes an effective focal length of 27 to 52 mm. |
